About Me
Perla and Jim met during their studies at Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA); noticing a common interest in world music and in each other’s musical worlds, they decided to form MUNDuO.
The collaboration has been a fascinating opportunity to work in a variety of idioms, expanding their sonic landscape to percussion, melodica, and voice, in addition to exploring different approaches on violin and piano, their principal instruments.
MUNDuO’s enthrallment to travel and play has brought them to perform at the following venues:
• Institute of Contemporary Art (Boston, USA)
• El Zinco Jazz Club (Mexico City, Mexico)
• Escuela de Música aRtes Revueltas (Cholula, Mexico)
• Club La Puerta 22 (Guadalajara, Mexico)
• Bar Santa (Guadalajara, Mexico) broadcast live on Radio UDG 104.3 FM (Guadalajara, Mexico)
• Lawrence and Alma Berk Recital Hall, Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA)
• Espace Culturel Jean-Jacques Robert (Mennecy, France)
• Recital Hall 1W, Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA)
• David Friend Recital Hall, Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA)
• Casa Municipal de Cultura de Zacatecas (Zacatecas, Mexico)
• Radio Zacatecas 97.9 FM, for the cultural program “Escenarios†(Zacatecas, México)
• Luis Cabrera Recital Hall, Casa de la Cultura de Puebla (Puebla, Mexico)
The wide array of styles MUNDuO enjoys performing, including original material, jazz-influenced arrangements of folk music from various countries as well as pieces from the “classical†repertoire, and improvisation, will hopefully awaken their audience’s curiosity and take them to familiar and more remote places…
Learning from diverse cultures and sharing their passion for music has driven MUNDuO to engage in journeys to France and Mexico, producing their own recitals as well as workshops. They have taught at the Unidad Académica de Música UAZ (Zacatecas, Mexico) and the Escuela de Música aRtes Revueltas (Cholula, Mexico).
