Beth Trollan

Beth Trollan is a sultry singer-songwriter who was born in Brooklyn, New York. She is a globe trotting artist that is constantly growing and pushing her limits of expression though music, acting, musical theatre, film and writing. BT is truly the culmination of her world experiences as she delivers a harvest in each jazzy, soulful, & groovy endeavor. In NYC, she studied songwriting with one of the industries best A&R rep/publisher & grammy award winning producer Bob Cuttarella (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Metallica, Celine Dion, The Temptations, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Joss Stone, Sting, Keith Richards, & Cyndi Lauper and the list continues). She is predominantly self taught on guitar but had the chance to study Jazz guitar briefly with the eclectic Israeli Jazz guitar child prodigy Mordy Ferber. While working in the East Village, she met an A & R rep from Astralwerks Records and asked for a spot as an intern there. He said yes and she went back to school so to speak! There she learned the ropes of the record label and had glimpses of the behind the scenes insanity and creativity of the music industry. Post Sept 11 had realized into a massive exodus of musicians and friends from New York City so she ventured to Istanbul by invitation of an artist friend with a demo in hand. There she played with many fantastic jazz musicians and worked with talented producers. Her pencil was being sharpened so to speak by the experience. By the reference of a producer friend, she ventured into dance music with 'Wait Forever' (Defected Records, UK) in 2005 and received much acclaim for her melodious hook, soulful lyrics and style, in collaboration with DJ Tekin & Doruk Ozlen (Istanbul). The track was released on Defected Records (London) in May 2005: Eivissa-Defected in the House (Doruk..s D-floor Influence Mix). Since then the track and it's subsequent remixes by San Francisco's best David Harness, Detroit's Mark Picchiotti, and London's Dj Spen have been well received, giving 'Wait Forever' even further celebration on the House music scene. The track has since been released on over 25 compilations world-wide. Doruk and Beth have once again teamed up and to deliver a melodious and tribal 'Do You Feel Me' (Map Dance, Switzerland) with inventive remixes by Rocco and Adrian Martin vs June. The track has had radio play across Europe's most happening dance stations and clubs. 2008 ushers in another soulful track entitled 'Talking Bout You' (Jump Sky Records) which is available exclusively by digital download at www.Juno.co.uk. Eclectic, electric and old school remixes by Ahmet Sendil, Cenker B & Sertac Sahin, Dogukan Ires and the original mix produced by BT and Murat Tunali. The tracks are scheduled for rerelease by Rabies Records in 2009. Working not only as a solo writer but as a collaborator, BT has contributed to other artists' works as a lyricist and vocalist: (Rebel Moves/ Are You Satisfied), Askin Arsunan/One A Day, dB Fonics/ New Day, High Jon Pocket/5:30, Closer, Jay-Lal/Turn on the Radio/Ride, and many other highly talented musicians and writers. In tandem with her songwriting, she learns persistenly from singing and listening, and learning from the jazz & blues greats. She's performed with jazz sax master Ricky Ford (Charles Mingus/Duke Ellington Big Band), Tony Jones (Nina Simone/Sister Sledge), and many other amazing Jazz musicians from around the world. In 2008, she lent her voice to the cause of Global Warming in a song, entitled In The Morning of A Day, penned by a father and son team(M & E Soyer) out of Istanbul & Barcelona respectively (www.inthemorningofaday.com produced in Istanbul by M.Esemen). The song was created in hopes of raising awareness of the need to globally come together and act; to stand up for our inherent rights as earthlings; and to be shared and used among academics and GW organizations in order to further the cause of awareness and reform. BT is presently based in Barcelona, Spain.
