About Me

Layout Provided By FreeCodeSource.com - Myspace LayoutsElle G. is a native New Yorker and proud!!! Lorraine was raised in one of New York's greatest melting pots, El Barrio, otherwise known as the East Harlem section of Manhattan. Her cultural background encompasses four nations: her mother is Nicaraguan, her father Colombian, and her grandparents Puerto Rican and Cuban. Raised by her mother, who came to the U.S. from Nicaragua in 1971, Lorraine was exposed early on to the hardships and sacrifices that came with living in the inner-city. She has been modeling since she could walk, and began singing at the age of 11 after joining her elementary school church choir. Soon after, she started taking private voice lessons with New York voice coach and Broadway singer/playwright, Diane Seymore. In high school, Lorraine formed her first R&B singing group with three fellow schoolmates, and although the group eventually dissolved, Lorraine continued performing around the city at local events, school concerts, hospitals, and talent showcases, including the 1996 Motown Talent Search, held at the acclaimed Apollo Theatre. After deciding to take a break from performing and auditioning everywhere, in just her sophomore year of high school, Lorraine landed an internship at none other than the most successful urban record label at the time, Bad Boy Entertainment, owned by the platinum-clad, entrepreneur-extraordinaire, Sean Puffy Combs. She worked her way through the company pipeline until she ended up working directly for Combs as an interning executive assistant. Three years later, she resigned in light of an opportunity to work for Sony Music Entertainment under the guidance of then-president, Tommy Mottola. As a model, she has also appeared on TV shows including "Good Morning America" on WABC Channel 7, "Latination" on WCBS Channel 2, and featured as a principal model in NORE's "Mas Maiz" music video which has aired on all the major music channels including MTV2 and mun2. Nevertheless, Lorraine earned her Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Visual Arts from Fordham University in Manhattan in 2003, and is now in plans of completing her first album by this fall. In the summer of 2003, Lorraine wrote, produced, and recorded her debut solo CD demo, "Rayos De Luz", featuring the internet radio hit, "Vivir Ilusionada". In January of 2004, she made her live solo debut alongside The Mambo Legacy Orchestra, on the stages of Paris, France. The success of the bands performance in Paris has excitedly offered an invitation back in April 2006, in honor of the "Women of Salsa". She will once again be joining friend and musical guru, Jose Madera, former musical director of the Tito Puente Orchestra, undoubtedly one of the greatest bands in Latin music history. Lorraine is an active and registered BMI songwriter, as well as an working Latina plus model based mainly in New York.
