Distinctively different, the band's music is a perfect blend of rancheras and cumbias - La Distancia style!! In the year 2000, they released their first CD entitled "Primer Impacto". This enthusiastic promising band from San Marcos, Texas entertains the public with their versitility, excitement and energetic presence on stage. They have shared the stage with such greats as Shelly Lares, Jimmy Gonzalez, Michael Salgado and David Lee Garza, just to name a few. La Distancia is fronted by both-Laura McGill (vocalist, bajo sexto, and guitarist) Augustine "Gootz" Chavez (accordian player, vocalist, keyboard player and saxophone/trumpet player) Irma Rodriguez (bass player, back-up vocals) John "Wero G" Garza (keyboard player, M.C.) Robert Espinoza (drummer) and lastly Jacob Sierra (saxophone player). Be on the look out for their highly anticipated new CD for 2008.
