In the spring of 2002, Jordy and Jason got together and started playing guitar. We weren't content to just play acoustic and pick around. So we called some old friends, some of whom we'd already jammed with before. On the low end, we gave a call to Derrick "Hubba" Nace, a good friend from a long time back. Derrick was cool with the idea of just jammin out. The more we played, the better we got, so we needed a drummer . . . enter Tyler Eppley.
Tyler was already a pro, having played with Carnyce and several other mid-state bands before. He's one hell of drummer (and he makes my ears bleed!) From there things really exploded. Tyler brought the final piece to our ensemble and the Coast is Clear was born. However, the CIC weren't done adding members to their ensemble, as we've had a new "baby", and are now the proud pappas of a new baby boy, guitarist, Elliott Crawford!! Elliott adds a crucial piece to the ever expanding puzzle that is the CIC, so we hope you enjoy his playing and style when we're out playing for ya'll, because we certainly do!! Well, so I'm sure you thought the addition of Elliott to the fold was it for us...well, you're right, as we did too!...but at the end of October 2007, the CIC had a little bit of an addition by subtraction to the band, as Jordy "Gord" Smoker officially called it quits, to go onto what we're all sure is bigger and better things!! Gord was one of the original founding fathers of the CIC, so we're sad to see him go, but we all whole-heartedly thank him for the time, energy, and effort he put into the CIC (Don't worry everyone, you'll still see him out at our shows, as he'll always be a part of the CIC!!). However, not all is lost and sad my friends, as we added (This is IT, we promise!) a new lead guitarist to the mix to take over for Gord, Justin "Whitey" (aka Baby Hendrix) White! We're so excited to add him to the mix, and can't wait for all of you to see him for the first time performing with us...he's awesome!! Let the hazing begin!!
Since April 2003, weve been playing increasingly packed local venues, always with the idea of expanding our horizons. We feel that the Coast is Clear just happens to be one of the best local bands in the midstate, and perhaps, like many, a little under-rated. If you havent heard us yet, maybe its time you should!
