About Me

Music and I are indistinguishable, it's in my blood, my bones, my very core...hell, it's even in my DNA. It's the sound that I make when I smile, laugh, joke, inspire, and love! I remember as a small child sitting in the studio with my Uncle Dennis and Uncle Michael, amazed at how music inspired the soul, and I knew then that I wanted to be apart of that magic. I knew that one day my music would change the lives of those who truly love music and who wanted to be inspired by the sounds of heart felt rhythm and blues. And from that very moment, I poured my all into ever lyric and every note I belted out. It is now my hope to share my first love with the world and hope that they feel as blessed to hear it as I am to give it.I started out in Kingston, Jamaica at Stella Mars Prep for performing arts, from there, I attended high school for the performing arts at Immaculate studying dance, drama, and musical theater for 2 years before returning to the states where I finished my education at Martin Luther King my senior year. Though I may have been too late to audition for the illustrious School of the Arts, I certainly made up for it my becoming a pupil of Juilliard.

Influences: I'm heavily influenced by so many gifted and talented artist, I'm not sure where to begin. Sarah Vaugh, Billie Holiday, Diana Ross, Madonna, Natalie Merchant, Miss Beyonce, Tina Turner, Sade, Annie Lenox, Bjorke, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Linda Thompson, my grandmother and one of the best voices I've ever heard and Patsy Cline! Women who all inspired me to sing the blues and sing from the heart. Louie Armstrong, Cab Callouway, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Donnie Hathaway, Al Green, Jackie Wilson, Prince, Lionel Richie, Bob Marley, my uncle Dennis ,one of the greatest in the biz, Bono, a true angel on earth ,Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Femi Kuti, Common, 2PAC, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls. Men who taught me that real men stay true to their art. Dells, The Spinners, The Manhattens, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones,Jefferson Airplane,THE Doors, Lizard King, The Commadors,The Emotoin ,U2, The Cure, Depeche Mode,The Smiths, Massive Attack, The Fugees, Wu Tang Clan....what can I say, I love real musicians who can produce authentic sounds.
