Rusty Wilson & High Life

About Me

Rusty Wilson started playing piano and guitar at age 5. His Great Grandmother, Mary Evelyn DuBois, taught him to play old gospel hymns such as Go Down Moses and Ill Fly Away. He started playing professionally when he was only 13 years old accompanying his uncles classic country band at family reunions, weddings and parties. His father, a drummer, showed him the ropes as he honed his skills sitting in at band practices. It seemed as though Rusty was born for the stage. After high school, he joined the United States Army, which took him to Fort Campbell, KY, only an hour from Nashville, TN. While in Nashville, Rusty sharpened his song writing skills with writers such as Brett Jones, Rick Tiger and Papa John Alee. Rusty won a talent contest at Goodfellow Air force Base, Texas. This opened the door for his participation as a performer in the United States Army Soldier Show. While touring the United States and Europe, Rusty performed at the 1996 summer Olympics in Atlanta, the National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and many other special events. After the Soldier show, the young man was assigned to a military unit in South Korea. He quickly formed a band and began performing at bases and local establishments all over the peninsula. He quickly earned a reputation as a dynamic performer that is at home on stage and a thrill to watch. Rusty has appeared on the Disney Channel and the Armed Forces Network.
