The Electric Soup

About Me

Electric Soup have been purveyors of fine Psychedelic Progressive Funky Rock since around 1999 when the main culprits, Nick “The Heavy Element” Steel and Colin “Kafka" Morris, hooked up with Dan “The Demon” Herra (vocals and Hendrix geetar) and Joe “The Kid” Hann (batterie and percussives) at the near legendary “Playgroup” jamming sessions, upstairs in the now defunct Hat & Feather in Walcot Street, Bath.
These jams were a heady mix of off-the-cuff improvisations, beer induced sloppiness and substance abused euphoria, and that was just the audience.
“Ah, those where the days.” reminisces Kevin “The Counsellor” Urquhart, “I can remember one evening when the boys were up on stage, most of the audience where convulsing around the place to the grinding bass lines, the ear splitting guitar twaddle and tub thumping drums, whilst Mr. Steel's huge organ was…well, to say the place was open to the public and members of the gentry is remarkable! Even the Police started to take notice.”
Various line-up changes later saw the addition of soul diva Becca “The Wail” Whale, plus thespian and multi talented sex-toy-tout Tobias Gascoigne on drumming duty.
The band are a regular feature on The Bandstand at Glastonbury Festival and are currently “Cider tasting” their way through some new material.
