I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Portland, Oregon is a hotbed of creative activity. After moving here for college (Lewis and Clark), i immersed myself in the local flux of musical creativity. i've been pulled into a community of passionately positive soul-searchers by playing and writing music, and seeking artists on the same wavelength. Currently i'm actively involved with Professor Gall and the March Fourth Marching Band (both on myspace, please check 'em out), but i've put creative energy into many other projects, including the Sort Ofs, Sketchy Ted, the Instigators, Rachel Taylor Brown, Kaosmosis, and the Restless Natives Studio Collective.

My Interests

music, horns, drums, dance, sunday brunch, making connections, gardening, groove-bombin', whiskey, massage and acupuncture, red fire trucks (especially convertibles), red wine, hot hot tubs and saunas, positive collective energy and exploring the great beyond

I'd like to meet:

Real people with a positive desire to express their artistic dreams and visions in the outside world...

Music:

i don't know where to begin. the last time i had favorites was during high school, and then it was Pink Floyd and Stevie Ray Vaughan (i grew up in Austin, TX, this part was inevitable). now my musical leanings are more eclectic, from straight-up classic funk and soul to avant-groove improvisations, all that cutting-edge jazz: old and new, experimental electronica (especially when performed by live musicians), Skerik, Latin American and African rhythms.

Movies:

sure, whatever. i prefer to watch semi-mindless, entertaining movies. my netflix subscription has been vastly under-used, because the queue gets clogged with foreign films that require reading and thinking while staring at the glowing box.

Books:

somewhat like my movie watching habits, reading happens on a lazy sunday afternoon or on the way to sleep, thus it needs to be entertaining. i like espionage novels, detective stories (especially by Dennis Lehane, but not Mystic River so much), and anything else that grabs my attention. books on tape are great for road trips.

My Blog

Deutschland: first blog ever

hello everybody, although this is the first blog i´ve written, i will try to stay away from abbreviations like WTF, LOL, and BTW, and also i will refrain from tYpInG liKe tHiS.  all disclaimers ...
