It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

About Me

I've been working for my Dad at Carousel Pools since 1/89. I got married 4/92. I had a baby - Ethan Henry Ellingson 10/00 - my joy and the greatest thing to happen in my life. Becoming a parent changed my life (unfortunately, my husband didn't "become a parent" with me so we were divorced 12/02). Life is full of change. Boy have I changed! All for the better I think (with perhaps the exception of the weight gain - LOL!). I now know that all throughout my formative years I had gaurdian angels watching over me and protecting me from my bad choices. There is no other way to explain the fact that I did not overdose on something, end up in jail, or worse. I don't think I would change a thing as it is those life experiences that has formed me into the person I am today. I think I pretty much know what I want out of life and am working toward attaining those goals. I wish I wasn't going through life alone, but I figure that God is going to some day bring the right man into me & Ethan's lives. Until then, I am to keep my eyes on Jesus Christ. He will provide for me exactly what I need.I have attended MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) from 2001 to 2006 and was active on the Steering Committee from 2002 until becoming the group's Cooridnator in 2005. I enjoyed being able to just attend the meetings in 2006 - with no responisbilities or duties weighing me down.I sing in my very rockin' and non-traditional church choir as well as the occasional stint on the Worship Team at Lookout Mtn Community Church. I've even sang with my friend Sydney Hostetler at a couple of "gigs" at The D-Note in Olde Town Arvada as well as backing her up on a couple of her originals songs while singing BGV for The Sharla Jackson Band at the world famous Little Bear in Evergreen.I moved to Arvada in December 2003. My father & I run his swimming pool business out of my home (dad owns it, I am his tenant).I very much enjoy being a mom to my spitfire of a son. He is a very precocious 7 and a half year old that definitely keeps me on my toes. Being a single-parent is a challenge but I have lots of support from family, friends and my church-family. Ethan is a challenge due to his having ADHD and Bi-polar disorder. We are working on both and I feel like I am earning my Masters in Pediatric Psychiatric and Behavioral Disorders with all the reading and research I have been doing on the subjects - LOL! Luckily Ethan attends a fantastic (public no doubt!) school where the principal, teachers and all the staff really care about the students and their success.I am a member of an internet group of about 25 moms that all had babies from mid-August to mid-October 2000. We've been a group since early 2000 and are from all over the United States as well as Canada & Australia. Several of us have met in person.I make unique, one-of-a-kind beaded jewelry items. ID Badge lanyards and charm bracelets being my two specialty/signature items. I don't sell nearly enough jewelry to justify my outrageous bead buying addiction, but I am working on it. I really need to create my business website (KimOvations) and get some pieces on there to show for potential buyers. I edited my profile at Free Christian MySpace Layouts , check out these Christian Myspace Layouts!

My Interests

* My AWESOME Son, Ethan * Singing!!! Oh Man Do I Love to Sing! When I am singing on the worship team at church - that is when I feel closest to God * Making Beautiful Beaded Things (my signature charm bracelets) * Cooking (NOT baking - that is too much like chemistry in that you have to be very exacting and precise) * Gardening (very unstructured, layed back gardening) * Watching Movies (scary movies) * My Fishies, my 2 Kitties (Dorothy the Princess and Mickey the Dog-Cat), our 2 firebelly toads and BoBo the carnivorous Albino Argentine Horned Frog (PacMan frog) * My Super Cool, Extremely Smart and Breathtakingly Beautiful Sister, Holly (really - she truly is all of those things!) * I love getting facials and micro-dermabrasion and chemical peel treatments at the medi-spa * I enjoy getting regular massages and chiropractic adjustments * I love getting a mani/pedi when I can afford it * I like getting funky colors put in my hair!

I'd like to meet:

I can't wait to meet Jesus! But I will wait until He calls my name.Dr. Laura Schlessinger really intrigues me Oprah Winfrey is an incredible woman.I am anxious to meet my soul mate. If you know him . . could you introduce us?

Music:

Prince, BarlowGirl, Plumb, Evanesence, Chris Tomlin, Third Day, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, The Who, Barenaked Ladies, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Lang, Mindy Smith, Amy Whinehouse, JJ Heller

Movies:

The scarier the better. It all started when I was very small and someone (a babysitter?) had me watch a scary movie with them. It scared the Hell out of me but got me hooked. I used to be afraid of the dark and even slept with the covers up around my neck (vampires!) well into my twenties. I am over that now but can get my self a bit anxious if I am all alone in my big house and I watch a good horror flick. I also enjoy historical movies - fact or fiction - like Braveheart, Dances With Wolves, Schindler's List, The Pianist, Titanic, The Passion of The Christ, you get the idea.

Television:

Heroes * Grey's Anatomy * Nip/Tuck (addicted to this - and in love with Dr Christian Troy!) * Jericho * Big Brother * Real World/Road Rules * Project Runway * Hell's Kitchen * The 4400 * LOST * Survivor * CSI (the original is the best, but I'll watch any of them) * medical shows in general - real life or dramas *

Books:

I like to read magazines. I have the world's largest collection of parenting books - LOL - there is a story there . . . . I also have quite a few cookbooks. I don't necessarily use them for the recipes so much as inspiration.

Heroes:

My Gramma Holmes. She was an incredible person. She and her sisters were orphaned when she was very little. She escaped from the orphanage with several of her sisters at a very young age. The nuns got tired of chasing after them so they let them go. They lived alone, without any parents for many years. Then at 15 she married a 36 year old man. She had her first of 4 children when she was 16. She was an awesome cook and baker and gardener and mother and grandmother. She did all sorts of crafts and was an inspiring woman. She was a great story teller and taught all of us grandkids all sorts of silly songs. I miss her so much!My Mom is my hero too. She sacrificed a TON to raise my sister & I. She did a pretty good job of it too. She can do anything. She has re-roofed and painted her house, installed sinks & faucets & garbage disposals. She can wallpaper like a pro. She is a world class seamstress and crafter. And she can clean - boy can she clean.
