Almond Davis

About Me

Almond Davis is on hiatus. Does that rhyme? Yes it does! You can still BUY the CD if you like the tunes above.

Almond is working on a few more CD projects with various bands, and they will be out later this year hopefully.

One is a CD with the Michael Tracey Band (for which Almond is the keyboard player). It's a blues/blue-eyed soul extravaganza.

Another is a CD with Hank Shreve. He plays harmonica, sings and write songs. It's kind of a double EP, half Hank's tunes, half Almond's. There will be some super guest musicians.

Another is a CD of a set of songs that Almond just finished, for eight voices, piano, guitar, violin, cello and light percussion.

And lastly, Almond has been sitting in on some songs by his friends Crystal, Grace Holmes, and the Awkward Blue band.

That's all for now...

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Almond Davis - vox, organ, piano, 8-string ukulele, harmonica (if Hank's not around), melodica, guitar*,

Almond is looking for bandmates to play some gigs with. Especially needed are:
Upright Bass (oh yeah!)
Drums (or percussion)
Horns (charts are available!)
Acoustic Guitar (singing ability is a plus)

Now, is anybody out there looking to play? email me here or at almonddavis AT gmail DOT com

plus the MIDWEST CREW:
Bill Golden - vox, drums, bells, percussion, mandolin*, guitar*
JD Shaffer - vox, bass, percussion*
Peter Bell - vox, acoustic guitar
Jeremy Wagner - tenor saxophone, bells

Horns by:
Hal Longley - bass trombone, percussion
Aaron Jameson - trumpet, percussion
Preston Duncan - alto saxophone, percussion
Clark Thaldorf - baritone saxiphone, percussion

also
R** M****n - terrible awful shitty uninvited trumpet**

Then you've got your WEST COAST CREW:
Steve Arriola - vox, guitars, and can-do-attitude.
Josh Soran - saxophone, clarinet, flute and wacky hats.
Hank Shreve - drums, vox, harmonica, and 2 string rugged good looks.
Kevin Stacey - vox, drums and rugged good looks.
Adam Tamarkin - bass, and lost causes (Baseball teams from NY)

*at acoustic and/or open mic shows
** no offense. But seriously. He has bad taste and etiquette.

also former member:
Jim Macur - lead guitar, classical guitar*

Influences: Almond is on record saying he is influenced by Ray Manzareck, Billy Preston and Paul McCartney. He also enjoys a good Led Zeppelin record becuase of John Paul Jones.

Jeremy likes some stupid stupid music. Like Bernstein. And TMBG. And computer music in general. Yikes.

The Jim Macur (former lead-style guitar player for Almond) likes classical guitar music and thinks that both the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and Pink Floyd's "The Wall" have epic guitar moments. [ed. note: Almond disagrees. He says Faith No More has "Epic" guitar moments.]

YOU MAY BE ASKING yourself "What do the other guys like?"
And I will tell you this, they suck at doing interviews so they are poorly represented on this page at the moment! Keep checking back, maybe one day they will return this writer/music fan's phone calls.

Sounds Like: Hard to describe, but often times Almond likes to finish a song off with a good "Awwww...."

Possibly american traditional rock... putting traditional blues, country and R&B influences in a Rock format... what do you peeps think?

Just so's you know, Almond is the Zorro of the Ivory Keys.
Type of Label: Major
