MY STORY
When I was in high school I played football. I didn’t really like being competitive but I’ve always been athletic. I started every game my senior year and was the mvp defensive lineman. i spent all my time lifting, running and practicing. I got a division 2 scholarship to play in Oregon but I turned it down to go to ASU and pursue other things.
College was a very confusing time for me. I lost 20 pounds of jock muscle. I wasn’t on the same schedule that I was used to and after class there was no more practice. I started focusing on my hobby MAKING MOVIES full time. I produced a lot of feature films in college and premiered quite a few of them to sold out audiences at TEMPE CINEMAS.
My company Ballistic Entertainment was like a “gang.” It was comprised of up to 20 crew members at once sometimes. We were like a band but we didn’t make music, we made movies. My films were mostly about angst. I was a very confused kid and it reflected in my flicks.
Somewhere in the last few years of college I started shooting live videos and music videos for bands. When word got out, I found myself at venues like the Marquee Theater every weekend for months. Labels and other industry folk were booking my crew and I to get a lot of internet based live footage. This was before the days of YOUTUBE and MYSPACE. We got to film bands like Authority Zero, 3 Days Grace, Adema, The Format, Story of the Year, Fort Minor, Rise Against, POD and many many more.
Timing was perfect and the day after I graduated college I was on tour w/ KOTTONMOUTH KINGS filming their DVD "10 years deep". After a summer of madness, airplane flights and seeing a lot of the country I’d never seen, my life was changed forever.
Somehow in this time I still continued to put out movie after movie, and work with many different bands on music videos. This is where things started to change.
After spending a chunk of the summer on WARPED TOUR 05 helping my friend Alex’s band Mourning Maxwell, he asked me to help him out on the business end. I had never managed a band before or knew anything about that type of stuff but I knew a lot of industry people from my music video connections. Before I knew it, we were having meetings in LA and showcasing for A&Rs. Mourning Maxwell didn’t end up going the way we thought it would and they disbanded. During this time I picked up a young band called EYES SET TO KILL.
ESTK and I hit it off from the start. After shooting videos and spending a summer on tour with them in 06, I was on quite a roll. I decided to focus on management full time. We got signed and toured w/ Papa Roach, Kittie, Hed Pe, Walls of Jericho, and many more. After 5 months on the road i decided I couldn't tour manage and manage at the same time. The kids continue to tour as I manage them out of an office suite. Today I manage bands and promote local shows.
15 feature films, 6 Band DVDs, over 250 music videos, more tours than i can count, and a Distribution Deal with Brain Damage films for 6 of my movies....im still standing. If i've learned anything about this business over the past decade its about survival more than anything else. I don’t know where the game of life will take me next but Im still having a good time. I love music, I love movies and I love people. I’ve met some of the most inspiring, depressing and crazy people ever and they’ve helped shape me to who I am today. Im here to make a difference. In my life and the ones i love.
