We are book designers and publishers in Toronto, Canada specializing in conceptual art books. Traditionally, books are compositions on printed pages bound together, but a recessBOOK is any reproducable piece of art in a series or a narrative. recessBOOKS come in all shapes and sizes — they are photographic, they are tactile, they are bound, they are loose, they are digital, they are handmade. recessBOOKS are conceptual, they do not take the medium, the format, for granted.
recessPRESS are Sheila Sampath and Jeremy Lenz. We are design students who are tired of visual and conceptual boredom and are looking for a new and exciting project to keep us out of trouble. This project is something we are taking on as a part of our final thesis, but we would like to invest in it and continue working on it beyond our graduation in spring, 2006.
