About Me

Lisanne Otten (Lai), originally from the Netherlands but in the UK for 4 years, is a professional musician with a passion for musical theatre. Her main occupation is performing professionally with various ensembles, theatre/cabaret shows and orchestras, but also composing, arranging and songwriting. Since before birth, Lisannes no. 1 passion has been music! Her main instruments are piano/keyboards and vocals, and second instrument bass guitar. Lisanne has been classically trained on the piano from the age of 7, but has been venturing into the pop/rock world since she took up the bass guitar. In the Netherlands she was part of the successful band "The Scizzors" as their main songwriter, bassist and backing vocalist, managed by the amazing Rein de Jong. Whilst studying for a BA (Hons) Music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), she is busy producing her own written Musical and concept album, playing piano and MD-ing for musical theatre shows around the UK, including a recent West End Cabaret "A Rough Guide To The Musicals". She is also part of various ensembles and bands including The Police Cover-up (on piano/vox) and arabic influenced Property of Nadya Shanab who are playing gigs across the UK and Egypt. Bortkivicz, pianists David Paich, Steve Porcaro, Chick Corea, Jools Holland and Jamie Cullum, bands and artists such as Toto, Stevie Wonder, Yes, Genesis, Carlos Santana, Steely Dan, Sting & the Police, Michael Jackson, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Within Temptation (Dutch rock group), Eb/Kander, Frank Sinatra, Abba and Andrew Lloyd Webber, but also many types of jazz and worldmusic such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Remember Shakti: Lisannes tastes and influences in music are eclectic which is reflected in her compositions. When writing songs, Lisanne always tries to make them as musically interesting as possible to give the audience a challenge.
