Brad Jefford Trio's music, primarily inspired from the jazz idiom, is focused on the development of simplicity and groove, leading to new lands of improvisation. The group formed in 2005 when guitarist Brad Jefford and drummer Graham Ellsworth met at St. Francis Xavier University (St.FX). They began to play with various instrumentalists at the school and found they share many of the same musical inspirations and were on the same musical journey. Things were going so well they decided it would be fun to continue playing throughout the summer months, and the group was born. These two individuals are the core of group performing with a variety of bassists. Performances have been based in Antigonish, Halifax, and St. John's areas, with highlights including the 2005/2006 St. John's Jazz Festival, Hurricane Katrina Relief Concert, and many bar dates in St. John's. The group continues its quest for musical enlightenment.
