About Me

I am often described as 'frightening' or 'scary'. I think this is unjustified, and put it down to lack of imagination, or more likely, lack of decent adjectives to describe the conundrum that is myself. Words I would use to attempt to describe myself: 'pretentious', 'self-absorbed', 'vain', 'highly-strung', 'drunk', although apparently I'm 'quite nice really'.I like cats, not dogs, and summer, not winter. I hate milky tea and bland music. I love Scottish accents and eyeliner.

You Are Creepy
Serial killers would run away from you in a flash. How Scary Are You?

My Interests

Reading books, going to gigs, getting drunk and putting the world to rights, dancing, visiting castles, seeing new places, writing bad poetry, reading good poetry, playing my vile din, misbehaving, being obnoxious, wearing dresses, buying shoes, flirting, gossiping, talking about books, misanthropic comedians, walking by the sea, accusing people of being misogynistic, daydreaming. Roses and kisses and pretty men to tell me pretty lies.

I'd like to meet:

A man who is capable of not being a total and utter arse once in a while. River Phoenix. Richey Edwards to find out where he's been all this time.

Music:

Ryan Adams. That's RYAN (not Bryan) Adams. PJ Harvey, The Dresden Dolls, Arcade Fire, Larrikin Love, Patrick Wolf, Bright Eyes, Whiskeytown, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Manics, Sons & Daughters, Bjork, Regina Spektor, Kate Bush, Dandy Warhols, David Bowie, Elliott Smith, The Stones, Idlewild, Placebo, Mark Lanegan, Rosalita, Primal Scream, Talking Heads, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. Bands that my friends are in. Other stuff.

Movies:

"Hedwig and the Angry Inch"; "Interview with the Vampire"; "The Dreamers"; "Pirates of the Carribean"; "The Corpse Bride"; "Cabaret"; "Quills"; "The Libertine"; "Bonnie and Clyde"; "My Own Private Idaho"

Television:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Black Books, Blackadder, Red Dwarf, This Life, Coronation St (the Spider years). Not that I watch TV, I'm far too cool.

Books:

Reading is my favourite passtime. My favourite author is Milan Kundera, closely followed by John Fowles and Tracey Chevalier. Novels I love include Wuthering Heights, Madame Bovary, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Jane Eyre, Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Northanger Abbey, The Beautiful and Damned, On the Road, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Les Enfants Terrible, Down and Out in Paris and London and of course, 1984. Not really into much contemporary fic for some reason - if I read modern authors it's usually trashy historical fiction like Bernard Cornwall (don't laugh), Tracy Chevalier, Sarah Waters etc. I also read a lot of teenage fiction as I am a trainee English teacher. 'Skulduggery Pleasant' was the last really decent kids book I read.

Heroes:

Lord Byron. Buffy Summers. Batman.
