coming soon...
Right now, I just want to meet people that I can be friends with, and who don't mind my ramblings.
I listen to just about a little bit of everything. My collection covers rock, alternative, heavy metal, punk, industrial, techno, dark-wave, trip-hop, ambient, rap, pop, Japan Pop, country, bluegrass, zydeco (Cajun music), the standards (Sinatra, Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc.), new age, World (Reggae, Irish, African, Asian, etc.), classical, opera, etc. Just about anything out there, and I have some of it. I don't really like polkas ('Weird' Al Yankovic and a few of the old classics being the exceptions). My tastes tend to lean a little bit towards the harder side of music.
As far as favorites go...
I have what I consider to be the Trinity of Rock consisting of Glen Danzig (The Father), Trent Reznor (The Son) and Jim Morrison (The Holy Ghost). I believe that all three of these men have very soulful voices. I am also very fond of My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Messiah, Puya, The White Stripes, Social Distortion, Primus, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry (I am including the side project 1000 Homo DJs in this), White Zombie, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Deep Purple (I can deal w/ just about any of their lineups), Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Misfits (I strongly prefer the Glen era line-up, but can see some merit in the guys after him), Samhain, Suicidal Tendencies, Billy and the Boingers... you know, I could go on like this for hours. Perhaps I will have to revisit this one later.
As a genre, I probably tend toward comedies, fantasy & sci-fi; although, by no means am I limited to those. I don't really have one movie in particular that I could call my favorite. So, I will just list several that I love...
Blade Runner (I like both the original theatrical release & the new director's cut), Amadeus, Dangerous Liaisons, The Lost Boys, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars trilogies (Yes, both trilogies), The Evil Dead trilogy, Wizards, Heavy Metal, Fight Club, The Fifth Element, The Matrix (I want to say the whole trilogy, but had a few issues w/ the last two that keep me from considering them favorites), the old Hope & Crosby Road Movies, Metropolis (I love both the original silent movie classic, as well as the modern anime remake), and ther are too many anime out there that could go on this list... Again, I could go on for hours here.
Wow, finally a category that I have a clear-cut favorite!!!
Hands down, this has to go to My Name Is Earl. I just absolutely love that show.
Other favorites include Bones, House, Supernatural, The Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, Point Pleasant, Dead Like Me, That 70s Show, Black Adder, Becker, M*A*S*H, Whose Line is it Anyway? (both the original British version and the Drew Carey version), Cheers, Frasier, Mythbusters... alright, there are a lot more here that I will not list. I should also note that I like historical and scientific documentaries.
As far as books go, my main genre is fantasy.
My favorite book series is the Elric saga by Michael Moorcock.
I also like, among others not listed, the following...
The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien (I have to include The Hobbit and The Silmarillion in w/ this.)
Waiting for the Galactic Bus by Parke Godwin (And the sequel The Snake Oil Wars or Scheherazade Ginsberg Strikes Again)
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy by Douglas Adams (Yes, I realize that it is actually more than three books. But, if you have read them, you will understand.)
The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
The Vampire's Beautiful Daughter by S.P. Somtow
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Almost anybook written by Robert A. Heinlein
And, one of my newest guilty pleasures is alternate histories.
Again, another hands-down choice.
This would have to go to my wife.
