Salsa percussion. Rock and roll guitar riffs. Pop trends. These are but a few components of Gabo’s eclectic musical upbringing that coalesce into his unique style. His background not only influences his sound and image, it helps Gabo’s deep lyrical content merge with his music’s popular rhythms. He started singing at age 12, but it was not until he was 14 and started playing guitar, that his musical inspiration really started shinning through. Once Gabo went to college, his musical maturity was heightened, which resulted in the creation of refined melodies and rhythms. He graduated from the University of Loyola in New Orleans with a degree in Music Business, and is now actively pursuing his music career.Gabo’s debut album, titled Terminal 1, can be described as John Mayer meets Javier Garcia. “Natalia†mixes powerfully poetic lyrics with a strong acoustic guitar, while distortion on the electric guitars adds an alternative element. Jazzy acoustic guitars and melodic piano arpeggios accompany Beach-Boys-like vocal harmonies in “Lo Que Queda Por Vivir.†“Solo Por Uno†blends traditional Puerto Rican guitar rhythms and the sounds of the cuatro with a kick drum, a combination reminiscent of a dance song. Terminal 1 is an eclectic album that showcases a variety of beats.
