Artempire is the solo project of an anonymous artist in nashville, tn. the basic concept/philosophy of this project is multi-tiered. It is the intention of the artist to create objects, which may be based on intuitive process only, reference a sub-concept (ie: social issues, current events) or a combination of both. It is also the intention of the artist to create this work without notion of reimbursement, payment, gratitude, notoriety, etc. "Ars gratia artis", or Art for the sake of art, thereby freeing the artist from any monetary or contractual obligations whatsoever, which in turn promotes creativity (or so that's the theory). All artwork is to be illegally placed in public locations. As well, this project is intended to comment on the question of an artist's place/position in this single use, consumeristic, self absorbed, over weight, money grubbing, celebrity worshiping nation we call America. The ultimate demise of the work, inevitably a landfill or scrap yard, is self explanatory.
