Key player in the introduction and evolution of dance music in Cali and Medellin, his involvement goes way beyond the decks. Andres Up is part of the first generation of very talented producers in Colombia getting noticed and nurtured by international producers and labels! Another key role has been as owner of Da Electronic Records, one of the five electronic record shops in Colombia.Andres Up’s involvement with electronica started around 1994 in Cali. His preference for house and techno gained him local recognition. By 1997 he was resident of the first electronic clubs in Cali and Medellin, becoming Techno’s driving force in these cities and the whole south west region.Colombian DJs struggle hard to make a living, get visas to play in other countries and gain recognition. Andres Up’s persistence for over a decade is now starting to see results, placing him at the forefront of the national techno scene. Experience has been crucial in the development of his own personal sound, fresh and unique.Andres Up is also shining bright as a producer! His first productions were picked up by John Acquaviva head of Definitive Recordings. Released late 2006, “In Medio Virtus” was his debut EP, with 4 slamming tracks! Finally he got to share will share his interpretation of underground Colombian electronica with the world! Acquaviva’s support for his productions is strong in 2007!! Another four tracks were released on a second EP for Definitive : “Buscando”.Also this year will see him on tour as resident of Datamantes, a new brand of parties showcasing the freshest sounds of Colombia’s underground electronic scene.
