About Me

I graduated from pharmacy school at Samford on May 20, 2006. Three days later my best friend Brittany was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. For almost two months, Brittany fought with unbelievable courage and hope that never wavered. On July 20, Brittany lost her battle with cancer. What can I say about Britt that everyone doesn't already know? There was never a dull moment when Brittany was around. She could always make you smile, whether it was a comforting word or a sarcastic comment. She loved her family, they were the most important people in her life. I have tried to remember the day I was introduced to Brittany. However, that day does not exist in my mind. My family moved to Stonehedge when I was 4 years old. A few months later, Brittany's family moved in across the street. As far as I am concerned, we have always been friends. There has never been an event in my life when Brittany wasn't right there with me. Tests, presentations, separate schools, divorce, lots of trouble (usually involving alcohol and/or City Stages!), relationships, break ups, interviews, acceptance letters, beach trips, road trips, surgeries, the loss of grandparents, promotions, illness, even Board exams. Brittany was truly as much a part of my life as my own sister. But I know that a part of her will always be with me. My life is forever changed, and I will miss my friend until I see her again. Until that day, I am devoted to ovarian cancer research and awareness, and advocacy for a cure.

My Interests

Reading, watching movies, watching TV shows I've missed because of work (DVR is ingenious!), Sudoku, ripping up the carpet in my condo, sleeping in every chance I get, hanging out with friends, spending time with my family.

I'd like to meet:

Gregory House, not Hugh Laurie. Maybe a few famous people....Joaquin Phoenix or John Cena.

Music:

Jimmy Buffett, Indigo Girls, Diana Krall, Linkin Park, Chet Baker, Marc Broussard, Elliot Morris, Peter Cincotti, Shinedown, Norah Jones, Vertical Horizon, Breaking Benjamin, most Christmas songs (except "Little Drummer Boy" and Stevie Nicks singing "Silent Night", Boo!!!), movie soundtracks by Hans Zimmer or James Horner, Linda Eder, Frou Frou, old school, New Kids on the Block will always be awesome, 80s Monster Ballads, show tunes....

Movies:

Harry Potter (all of them), The Shawshank Redemption, Life is Beautiful, Boondock Saints, Rent (the movie is awesome, but the play is better), Sense and Sensibility, Finding Nemo, The Godfather (I and II, not III), March of the Penguins, Ice Age, Pretty in Pink, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, The Three Muskateers, Titanic, Shag, Signs, The Mummy (can't help it, I love it), Pride and Predjudice, Mansfield Park, anything with Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Edward Norton, or Clive Owen.

Television:

House, Law and Order: SVU, Scrubs, Jeopardy, Prison Break, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Carnivale, WWE Monday Night Raw (yes, I am a fan), Saved, Psych, Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal, My Boys, Dexter.

Books:

Memoirs of a Geisha, Paradise Alley, Harry Potter (all of them), Anne George mysteries, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, Hamlet (it counts as a book), The Great Gatsby, A Separate Peace. I don't have a lot of time to read. Actually, that's a lie, I'd just rather sleep.

Heroes:

My sister Jam. She's going to save the world. And Britt. She saved more people than I could ever hope to.
