About Me

...We started dancing in beer halls when we were very young....we immigrated to Brooklyn from Budapest with our Uncle who managed our careers. He can be very demanding driving us like little oxen yet, we know he has our best interest's at heart. We were the first twin sister dancing act....we perform tandem dancing wearing exact costumes using smoke and mirrors to embellish our talents......by the time we were 16 we had been offered to perform with the Ziegfeld Follies!!! Unfortunately, we we're too young to perform on the New York "stage". The indignity! We were allowed all the beer halls we wanted by the age of 8. Heaven forbid we are seen on the "stage" New York!!! We were not going to lose our momentum and allow some silly laws to stop our careers. We toured with the Orhpeum Vaudeville circuit from 1908-1909....in 1909 we joined the Keith Vaudeville circuit. We traveled all over the US. Touring can be grueling but we always have each other and all our wonderful friends. In 1911 we were finally old enough to perform with the Follies. We loved the Follies we made wonderful friends there Fanny Brice, Bert Williams, Louise Brooks, Nora Bayes, Lillian Loriaine, Leon Errol, Vera Maxwell, Olive Thomas who is married to Jack Pickford and Bessie Mc Coy. In 1914 we we're offered a contract to host the Jardin de Danse in the rooftop garden of the New York Theater while they were converting it to a movie house...we were billed as "Dolly Twins". This is where we met Harry Fox and Jean Schwartz. Harry Fox was downstairs singing "I am Always Chasing Rainbows". Harry and Yanski began dancing together out on the ballroom floor...falling deeper and deeper in love and having a BLAST!!! Together they created the Fox Trot...or Fox's Love Trot as it was known in the earliest moments....it was his La La Love Trot!!!!! Harry and Jenny were married in 1914...Rosi married Jean in 1913. He wrote music for our revue's. Oh, what a time we all had touring, singing song's, fueling each others creativity, we all went to Hollywood and made some movies. In 1920 our friend Olive invited us to tour the nightclub's of Paris. It was a tragic journey indeed our dear friend Olive was found wrapped in nothing but a sable coat dying of mercury poisoning. We were devastated!! Our sweet beautiful Olive gone from this world. After Olives death we longed for the joie de vier of a life free from our husbands. It was wonderful while it lasted, but, we needed to make this change and in 1921 we divorced Jean and Harry and ran off to Paris. Oh, Paris the freedom the art, the cafe's, the friend's, the love that was all around!!! In 1922 we performed at the Casino de Paris and met Harry Gordon Selfridge. Harry is the god father of the modern day department store. Little did we know what our life had in store, it's one exciting and tragic ride....we will continue our soon...
