With a voice that is both passionate and playful, jazz singer, Valerie White Williams, brings an inspired touch to her interpretations of jazz standards. Influenced by such jazz vocalists as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Annie Ross, Mark Murphy, Al Jarreau and Manhattan Transfer, Valerie enjoys combining her skills as a classically trained singer, jazz pianist and published writer to create music that is both timeless and fresh.
A Seattle native, Valerie graduated cum laude from Central Washington University and sang lead soprano in the award-winning vocal jazz choir directed by John Moawad. While still a student, her female, vocal jazz quartet, Sudden Touch, gained national attention and was featured on the cover of the Jazz Educators Journal. Since then, Valerie has performed in such venues as Benaroya Hall, Tula’s Nightclub and the Admiral Theatre among others. When she is not singing, Valerie teaches voice lessons and lives with her husband and drummer, Garey Williams, and their children in the beautiful Puget Sound area of Washington State.
