Tom Prior

Hi I'm Tom Prior,a Double Bass player who is very active on the Dublin jazz scene.I studied jazz performance for 2 years at Newpark Music centre and achieved a diploma in jazz performance from the London Guildhall in June 2004. I performed at the Cork jazz Festival 2004 with a contempory jazz outfit - Sigh Fry. Since leaving Newpark, Ive performed with alot of different bands and musicians : The Jeromy Schaal Quartet – Canadian Saxaphonist who was resident in Dublin for 6 months in 2004; The Patrice Bruin Quartet; Bop5 playing bebop and hard bop, Isotope (at they're thursday night gig at JJ Smiths); jazz singers - Cormac Kenevey, Kevin Morrow, Bob Whelan; modern jazz/electronica/drum n bass band Orca. I also play regularly with The Company playing a mixture of jazz, funk and soul. We recently finished a long-standing residency at Gubu, Capel Street but we'll hopefully have another one at a different venue soon. We're regular performers at the Cork Jazz Festival too. Recently I had the honor of playing with the great Louis Stewart at the Blue Note jazz club on Capel St. -I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
