The founding idea is to put together their respective rap and funky/fusion influences to an explosive mixture of rhythmics and groove, a groundbreaking and cutting edge music which is irresistible to play and to listen to.
The name Dionisia refers partly to ancient Greece wild festivals honoring the god Dionysus, partly to the concept of "dionysiac".
In 2006 the first demo was issued, more fusion/jazz oriented, in trio with a guitarist: Musica per riti orgiastici (Music for Orgiastic Rites). Soon after the band starts playing live.
Dionisia's concerts set immediately apart for their high musical quality combined with an entertainment attitude arousing enthusiasm in both the average listener and the choosiest.
Among line-up changes, turntablist Salvatore Costa joins the band in 2007 and they record a new demo with a new line-up. Vengano i satiri (May the Satyrs Come) turns to a refined but powerful funk with fusion and jazz flashes, assisted by humorous and satirical lyrics. The beginning of the CD is a band manifesto: slap bass-line, scratch-dragged funky groove and irriverent rap vocals!
On september 8 2007 Dionisia are invited to Rome's Vaffanculo Day and they get on stage with a rip roaring performance.
On december 2008 jazz/funk guitarist Antonio Feula joins Dionisia and on february they're one of MArteLive festival selections highlights. One year later groovemaster Marcello Politano take command of Dionisia's bassline, bringing his load of thumping energy.
