ModMySpace Profile Customizer Hailing from a country with what could easily be considered one of the worst climates in the world it is necessary to look for those pleasures afforded by the sun elsewhere. Glasgow has a thriving wee disco community and this goes a long way to bringing some rays of sun into the long, wet winters! Another of my solar substitutes is the idealistic and hedonistic cult of Tiki. Although it saw it's hay-day in the 1950s the idea of cocktail fueled worship at the temple of the god of enjoyment still resonates today. Indeed I believe it is a whole sub-culture on the verge of re-discovery. It also allows you to pretend you live in the south pacific rather than the cold west coast of Scotland! I have been recording and producing music for the last 5 years and it tends towards classic 4/4-dance-music side of things, but with an emphasis on what I believe to be the particular qualities of disco ie. The heart-beat rhythm and solid bass line providing the foundation for the melodies and chords to float on. In combination with Tiki this influences me to try and make the music which will be played on a hot summer night over the dance floor of my bar/club on Fiji which i fully intend to open...one day..
