I am a so called legend in the world of college basketball. I started my career at West Point where I was the youngest varsity coach in major college sports at the age of 24. After some time at West Point I took the job as the head basketball coach at Indiana University. At Indiana, I had some success: 11 Big Ten Conference titles, five Final Fours, one NIT championship, one 32-0 undefeated season (1976) and three NCAA championships, National Coach of the Year, Big Ten Coach of the Year, Coached Pan American team to gold medal (1979-Puerto Rican cops love me!), in 1984, I became one of only four coaches in basketball history to win an NCAA championship, NIT championship and an Olympic gold medal, one of only three coaches to both play on and coach national championship teams, and I am the youngest coach to reach 200, 300 and 400 wins. However, after 29 years of service to Indiana University i left to the Red Raiders! This was a great move for me because I always dreamed of coaching at a Big 12 school and as luck would have it Texas Tech cam knocking. I was named head coach at Texas Tech University in 2001 and proceeded to lead the Red Raiders to an overall record of 90-45. On February 5, 2003 when Texas Tech team defeated Nebraska I earned my 800th career win. Currently, I am the Division I leader in wins among active coaches.
