Upon Infliction

About Me

Brutal, but intelligent. That’s what Upon Infliction set out to do with their first release, “ To Escape Is To Suffer”. Formed in South Florida, UI is the brainchild of Gus Rios and Seth Ringler. Gus Rios has been part of the S. FL metal scene for over 15 years. Starting out with his first band, Sickness, which also featured Kyle Symons on vocals, Gus has played in several noted bands through the years. He has done tours with Divine Empire, played on and co-wrote Kult Ov Azazel’s first album, “Triumph of Fire”, and has been Malevolent Creation’s first call touring drummer for 3 years, co-writing the last 4 albums with Phil Fasciana, and recording and co-producing their latest. Seth Ringler caught Gus’s attention with his flawless execution of brutal yet complex riffs. Seth’s ability to play his instrument with precision was exactly what UI needed to come to life. Now joined by Kyle Symons(Hate plow,Malevolent creation) and guitarist Gio Geraca (Wykked Wytch)with all new material, the next offering will be superior on every level! Faster, slower, more precision, and more brutal than ever before, Upon Infliction is ready to unleash their newest onslaught of death metal mastery onto the world Myspace Graphics

Band Members: Gus Rios- Drums Seth Ringler- Guitars Kyle Symons- Vocals Gio Geraca- Guitars
Influences: The band is influenced the usual suspects. Anyone who is worth a shit in this scene grew up listening to the forefathers of our genre. Slayer, Kreator, and most other early thrash bands is what got us into this mess! Then as music got more extreme, those bands that pushed the limits, like Morbid Angel, Death, and even Cynic, crept into our psyche and pushed us even further as musicians. We feel that to play death metal or any form of extreme metal, one must take their instrument seriously and always try to better their skills.
Sounds Like: The new songs are a product of two years of steady playing and rehearsing. The level of musicianship and songwriting has been clearly raised. Gus Rios, having studied with Sean Reinert and Dave Culross, the Death and Cynic influence is apparent. Gus also co-wrote the last four Malevolent Creation albums with Phil Fasciana, so there's probably some MC in there too. Seth Ringler is a huge fan of extreme bands such as Cryptopsy and Gorguts. These two songwriters together have put out an offering of extreme and complex music, but played out in old school feel. And now with Kyle Symons on vocals, a new level of brutality has been achieved! The songs are fast, but have peaks and valleys. .. width="425" height="350" .... .. width="425" height="350" ....
