Goddess Extasy, was born on January 29, 1978 in Sacramento, California. The youngest of one sister and two brothers, and the eldest of two younger sisters. Goddess Extasy found that her special talents and gift from god was her only way to shine and to be set apart from her siblings, and was her only way to escape the saddness and let downs of her childhood.Meet Goddess Extasy:I come from a musical family my mother sang in the church choir when she was a child. Before my mother was born her father recorded a record; I was told that he was a wonderful singer. My estranged father was always into music my mom told me that she meet him one night at a club where he was playing with his band. He plays lots of instruments but he is really good with the piano and the guitar. He left my mom before I was born but he would send his recordings through the mail from prison. He once told me that I was the great niece of Barabra Lewis the singer of the hits "Hello Stranger" and "Baby I'm Your's".
Growing up music was a big part of my life. I remember my mom playing her records and I'd get up with this great big smile on my face and just start singing and dancing pretending that I was the singer on the record and that there was an audience in the front room watching. Even when my mom played her records early in the morning I'd jump out of bed and start singing and dancing. It was funny cause I'd be tired but I'd get this feeling in my veins that would give me this burst of energy. I just love singing and performing I get a huge rush from it.The Goddess Shows Off Her Vocal Talents:With music in her blood and music in her heart. Goddess Extasy began her musical journey. At the the tender age of eleven months, Goddess Extasy began to display her love for music (" My mom told me that when I was eleven months old I used to get into her pots, pans, and spoons and I'd bang on them like I was playing the drums, and sing really loud"). Goddess Extasy began singing when she was one. She would sing every song on the radio and television. She would sing every song she learned in pre-school and from Seasme Street and Sunday school with a soulful twist. Goddess Extasy made it clear to everyone that she could really sing when she was just a year old, when one day out of the blue, without any music playing in the background and no one there coaching her and telling her what to sing; she just out and started singing "Eye On The Sparrow" everyone in the room was shocked.
Loving to perform and making people smile the Goddess found her calling. Goddess Extasy began putting on shows for her family and friends. At four years old she got her first opportunity to perform for a real live audience. Performing the Michael Jackson classic "Rock With You" Goddess Extasy wowed the crowd, and was amazed and bought to tears by the wonderful response she recieved from an audience of people who were not family and friends. Goddess Extasy knew that she required more experience and training as an performing artist so she joined the church and school choir, started doing musical plays always going after the leading roles and landing them. When Goddess Extasy was eight years old she joined a music group called "Joy" after eight months and twenty shows and no recording contract and fighting over the lead position, Goddess Extasy knew that it was time to leave the group and fly on her own. (" I believe that it just wasn't right for me that in some strange way the break up of the group was a sign from god").Goddess Extasy Starts Writing Songs:Goddess Extasy started writing songs when she was four years old, the first song she wrote was called "Boys" which described the many difference between girls and boys. She describes her style of song writing as story telling (" I think that the way I write my songs is unique, I don't rhyme my lyrics cause I'm focused on telling a story or it's like I'm having a converstation with the person, I just listen to life and the many experinces that I face and that other people face and write").The Goddess Takes A Break From Music:When Goddess Extasy was 19 years old she decided to put her music aside. And give herself a chance to grow up independently and learn about life. She wanted to improve herself as a person and as a performer both mentally and physically, before she started after her dream. (" I decided to put my music career aside for awhile because I was going through a lot in trying to define who I am as a person, what I wanted to do with my life and where I wanted to be and where I wanted to go in life. I felt that if I needed to be stronger as a person and grow as a person as well as an song writer, vocalist and a performer"). She also decided to that it was important to her to finish school and work on her degree. ("I've always wanted to do something in medicine and finish my schooling to become a doctor and or Physician's Assistant").The Goddess Gets Back On The Saddle:Now ten years later at 29.
