Karo is from Hamburg, Germany. She grew up around music, because her father is a musical entertainer. It was only a question of time before Karo chose her own musical path. The violin came as an answer when Karo was five years old. She watched Maya the bee where Thekla the spider played the violin, but unfortunately sounded awful. Little Karo felt sorry for her and convinced her parents to take up violin classes in order to sympathize with Thekla. So she started playing the violin and some piano on the side. When she was around fourteen she started to write some of her own songs and had a band named Larifari, where she played violin and sang, combining her artistic interests for the first time.
Later on, love brought her into the film scene. She played and sang in commercials, short movies and image films. Some of these won awards and were really appreciated by the audience.
Karo mainly wants to entertain people with her music; that is why she has been playing in the streets. One of the highlights was summer 2005: traveling through the Spanish countryside, playing with her best friend and having children dancing around them. She wants to keep that on, to make some people, birds and clouds happy.
She does not estimate highly the status quo in the arena of the classical music. But she does enjoy classical music, especially when she plays in an orchestra. That is also the reason for her being in Norway. Last year she became a member of the Oslo Camerata and is studying chamber music with Jiri Hlinka (Leif Ove Andnes teacher). Besides she was a band member of the well-known Norwegian TV-Show Kjempesjansen in 2006 and is currently playing at the Nationaltheater in Oslo.
She has started to collect all her song ideas of the last years on an old, forgotten grand piano she felt in love with.
She worked together with several artists like: Truls Mørk, Mischa Maisky, Thomas Dybdahl, Lars Lillo, Chris Pickering, Paul Hankinson, Kate Miller- Heidke, Cornelius Renz, Alex Gunia, Øystein SevÃ¥g, Benedicte Torget, Bellman, AsmegÃn, Lama, Anette Ã…skvik and Annette Betanski.
