Terrell Guy:The voice and music of singer, songwriter, and musician Terrell Guy reaches the heart with undeniable talent and lyrics forged by diverse life challenges.Terrell is, quite simply, a living example of how faith can overcome insurmountably adversity, and turn sorrow into a life of inspiration. At age eleven, he survived a fire that took the lives of five of his family members, including three younger siblings. At fifteen, he was homeless and living on the streets of Philadelphia after his father abandoned him, and his mother battled her own issues of drug addiction. After being placed in foster care, Terrell began a life in a loving home filled with faith and encouragement. He excelled in high school as an honor roll student and as a member of the Gifted and Talented Program. Coming from a family of musicians and entertainers, he cultivated his own musical ability by studying voice, piano, music theory and jazz improvisation. While his childhood experiences were extremely difficult and the loss of family members left an irreplaceable void in his young heart, his personal challenges became his inspiration and motivation to encourage others. After graduating from college, Terrell began pursuing his dream to inspire the world with music.
Terrell’s expressive tenor and faith-filled lyrics continue to earn him the attention and respect of his ever-increasing audiences. His God-given vocal ability influenced by an eclectic group of styles including the music of Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Rachelle Farrell, Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway and Daryl Coley, gives Terrell a unique sound. As a songwriter, Terrell’s songs are filled with poignant lyrics encased in traditional gospel, R & B, classical, and jazz grooves. His songs point each of his listeners to God, faith, family, unity and love. His ability to speak French and Spanish fluently broadens his platform to reach a wider Audience base that is culturally diverse.Terrell’s talent has provided avenues for unforgettable live performances with some of Gospel and Secular music world’s finest including Kirk Franklin, Daryl Coley, Yolanda Adams, Rizen, Tonex, Judith McAllister, Shirley Caesar, John P. Kee, Commissioned, and Floetry. In special performances, Terrell has been featured with Bishop Noel Jones and Pastor Cheryl Brady at Praise Power Philadelphia, the COGIC AIM Convention, Love Fellowship Tabernacle Brooklyn Ny, and at numerous churches, universities and auditoriums across the country.
