About Me

Born February 13th, 1979, in Youngstown, Ohio. Grew up in the streets of Orlando Fl. (Parramore, Westmoreland, and Orange Blossom Trail) as a child. I spent my adolescent years raised in Sanford Fl. aka Bokey. A combination of cities that created a very raw up bringing. " I learned a lot about drugs, prostitution, racism -- everything poverty could bring," in Orlando & Sanford. The name Calico, stems from my biracial background in comparison to the multi colors of a calico cat. "I like to choose names that describe and define what I represent" I was very artistic & athletic, capable of pursuing sports or art. It was at the age of 13, when I wrote and recorded my 1st rhyme on a karaoke machine. I then formed a rap group with my friends called "Tha Squad." I became very addicted to hip hop & focused on perfecting my rap group in every aspect. I changed the groups name to (Surrealist) " I felt like this name best described the style me & my partners came with." Basically my crew & I would incorporate very creative metaphors & cliche's in our lyrics, that would paint a picture in your mind. In 1999, me & my band signed our 1st deal & began recording professionally. It was shortly after that, that poor management & creative differences started wearing away the groups essence. By 2003 I released the groups 1st professional album. (Tha Struggle) With the money earned from that project, I bought my own recording studio. In that same year the trio (Surrealist) parted ways and I went on to release other projects including; A mixtape & another Surrealist album (Spread'n Like West Nyle) with two replacement rappers. The relationship with the new editions to the group, lasted only a year and then parted ways. I am now officially a solo artist, set to release my 1st installment of rhymes this year. A compilation that will showcase myself in collaboration with Central Florida's best hip hop talent. "Im tryin to network with everybody that is interested in puttin out quality songs. I been broke all my life so this ain't about money for me, it's about tha love. I feel like if your music is good enough tha money will come in due time. So if you wanna come to tha studio, crack a bottle of Henny and make history hit me up" ~ Calico holla!!!
