Driven by a passion to provoke internal inquiry through the medium of melodic rock, Deadbolt Zen fuses the entire spectrum of the rock genre to deliver their unique sound. Originally comprised of Dustin Dichoso (guitarist, vocalist, songwriter), Bryan Wofford (drums), and Kimberly Gann (Bass), the band secured a worldwide deal with Reality Entertainment and recorded an EP together. Produced by Deadbolt Zen and Brian Baker (Sound Arts Studios, Houston, TX), with post-production work and mixing by Brian Virtue (Deftones, 30 Seconds to Mars, Audioslave, Jane's Addiction, etc…), DBZ's first self-titled EP, reflects the band's experimentation with deep personal lyrics cradled by intense, sonic melody. Combining mind-bending guitar riffs with epic moments of melody, Deadbolt Zen provides an audible journey with every song bringing both tension and release. Opening with the penetrating guitar riff of their gem "Weightless", DBZ also includes the anthemic "Down On Me", the heavy and haunting, "Everything Changes", and the passionate and tense, "Invisible".
In 2006, Deadbolt Zen changed members to include Chris Delgado on guitars and James Cross on bass, and Matt Lopez on drums, previously the founding members of the metal band Somber (Houston, TX). They have already began work on the follow up to the recent release of its EP through Reality Entertainment. The collaboration is nothing short of inspiring. Combining mind bending bass and guitar riffs with epic moments of melody, Deadbolt Zen’s provides an audible journey with every song. Each song rings sincere with both tension and release.
With over a decade of collective performance, DBZ’s members are seasoned in the art of live performance. A sincere display of emotion and energy can be expected at every live show. Past member performances include headlining the first TOOL fan convention (TOOLGATHERING, now 3EG), SXSW, NXNE, EMERGENZA, INDIE WEEK (Toronto), and opening for bands like Bowling For Soup, Pygmy Love Circus (Danny Carey), and others.
Individually, Dustin has been published for past works that have provided promotional and soundtrack needs for both national and international broadcast systems (ABC, CBS, NBC), cable (MTV), and independent films. Chris has years of experience in audio/visual systems, graphic design, and sound engineering, mixing, and production. James is an expert in infant necessities, and Blake is a trained electrician and master drummer.
