I am a 30-year-old Californian/New Yorker (via Deep East Texas and New York City Transplant), who puts a great value on intangibles like loyalty & honesty. I am an exercise fanatic who calls the gym my second home, but make no mistake about it: nothing rivals developing one's mind. I firmly believe there should be no such thing as predefined roles (gender, social, class, ethnic, etc.) in this life. My vision for my present and future has changed so much since I have come to terms with myself. I have learned to cherish my so-called unsavory elements that challenge the precepts that our society has constructed. I am the type of person who can be the most jockish/masculine guy in a sporting venue and two seconds later pick up some pom poms (a la Dallas Cowboys star Terrell Owens) and give it the old college try. I have learned through experience that acting like something you're not only leaves you empty and hollow at the end of the day, and I am constantly challenging myself, friends and loved ones to exceed the limitations we place on ourselves. I push myself to give support, praise, and encouragement at every turn, but also to be the voice of dissent at times when open and honest criticisms are needed. All told, when I look in the mirror every night before bed, I see someone who has been labeled everything from a teenage drama queen to a jock, and now I can say I am finally proud to be me.
