About Me

Hi, I'm Sabine and have lived in the UK since I was 16, but originally come from Belgium. Bit of a hybrid: French mother, half-Dutch father... confused? So am I. I work in a small library in the Scottish Highlands. I also work two nights at a local care home for elderly residents, a job which I love, although it can be a bit creepy at times when people decide to wander about at 3am and freak us out. Lol... I love singing and used to sing in a band in the 80's in and around London with agent called All Round Entertainments. Now I sing in the church choir. A far cry from my wild child days, I know... Somehow I have found the time to write two children's novels.
My recent one is called Meeting Wolfie : A Story about Mozart. It came out on July 27th 2006. I wrote this story to commemmorate Mozart on the 250th anniversary of his birthday. It is a time slip comedy, with some time spent with Mozart's family in Salzburg and the rest of the story takes Wolfie Mozart to present day London. Problem is, he's trapped in this century and has to attend school with Matthew. With his irrepressable nature, can he keep his identity a secret or will people find out who he really is? What are the consequences of this? Will he ever get back home to his own century? Find out in this fast-paced story of music and mayhem.
My first novel is called Matthew and the Highland Rescue, part one of The Time Gate Series. It came out in March 2005. It is a time slip fantasy set in Scotland, meeting medieval King Malcolm III and his wife Queen Margaret. Macbeth's ghost makes an appearance, too.
At present, I'm writing the sequel. This is also set in Scotland, and the main character Matthew seeks the help of the legendary prophet Brahan Seer aka Coinneach Odhair to rescue his kidnapped cousin Morag from the evil fairy king, who's about to add her to his collection of lost souls in his Wall of Wails. It's a tale of silkies, fairies and changelings.
OK, I know, I've never grown up. But it's great fun writing these tales.
I have written short stories for womens magazines, a vegetarian cookery book and I've had 11 songs published.
Have a look at my website on www.freewebs.com/sabinemuir/ where you can read a couple of chapters.
My novels are for children aged 8-12, but have been praised by adults, too. See my reviews on my website. Signed copies are available directly from me at £6.99 (+ £1.00 p&p)
