About Me

Welcome to the place that is Alex's myspace.
My main instrument depends on what band I'm in. Right now its piano, or keyboards. Piano's the proper instrument wot I lernt on. Keyboard is what I end up playing to sound powerful. I have an epic keyboard set-up, (see pic), that feels like playing a piano anyway, even if it is set at 3 foot high!
I play many basii (bay'sigh pl=multiple of bass), I have an arsenal. For the record, I have no interest in football. This is a jazz-man's weaponry of axes. More pics of that lot at some point. No guarantee's eh?
Nebulous
One day, oh yes, one day (cue Wayne's World clip -although that's not quite right) I will form my own band alongside everything else somehow. You see, every now and then, I write guitar riffs, on a strange guitar, in a strange tuning, strangely, and progressively, and sometimes heavy. This can become a band in the future. I think I've decided to call it Nebulous, suddenly inspired from some sci-fantasy book! [geek] I suppose I'll put bits of it on here if I ever record most of a song. Takes time.
FORCE FED DESTINIES
No vocals yet. Bass, guitars, and drum programming by me.
Stuff that doesn't belong anywhere, so its going here:
MYSTERION A thing on my baritone, tuned A-A, tons of effects. Something of an Allan Holdsworth / Frank Gambale thing.
Current band
Enter Neoentity , an amalgam of 2 separate bands: Into the Woods, where we brought all the good bits to combine with Adam's awesome playing, and his Neoentity project, that hadn't had the chance to become a full band.
We consist of:
. Bass - Hans Stiles
. Guitar - Bill "custom" Runham
. Guitar - Adam "goresweeper" Hooton
. Keyboards - (you're already here dog-nab-it)
. Drums - Any takers? It's programmed so-far, but don't tell anyone. Contact me if you want to play drums for us.
. Vocals - The fantastic Mike Walter from California features on all Neoentty recordings. But...we (obviously) need a singer for live stuff in this county. Contact me if you're interested
I had no idea I'd be in a metal band a few years back, but anyway, it's pretty varied music, and definately exciting. Keep checking back for frequent updates of our pro-home recordings. We WILL gig, eventually. We have just featured on the promo CD given to all attendants the of ProgPowerUK festival. Hopefully, some publicity there will help to complete the line-up.
Its a melodic power / progressive metal band. There's lots of jazz sections in it, innit, and lots of heavy bits. When even more songs have been recorded, they shall find a place on my site, and the band site . We have much work to do, it will take over eventually.
Now this is getting cool! I am no longer limited to 4 songs. Here's a piece of a song that one day might be. Bill and I decided to start a song with a solo!
Previous bands
I used to be in some ridiculous jazz-metal experiment called Satan Loves Fusion (SLF). I played 6-string bass, Adam played many notes on guitar, Rob and the mighty Korg Triton together formed the keyboard player, and Mark played every polyrhythm in sight. All of this was at once. We disbanded after a year's efforts only amounted to 3 songs, which we didn't completely understand! Here's everything we ever wrote:
QUIDITTY
ARMATURA
UNNAMED DRUM N BASS THING
Oh yeah this is the one where my bass amp went wrong, you'll hear its contribution, the note G, because that's 50Hz which is mains hum. [Nerdy info-chat over]
