Shakes writes music that is inspired by a wide range of influences -- pop, folk, psychedelia, funk, hip-hop, jazz and indie rock.
He produces uplifting, effortless songs with heart-felt lyrics or tongue-in-cheek stories, depending on the mood of the song.
Shakes plays all the instruments on his recordings and so he is able to completely capture the personality of his material in a live setting. Performing as a solo acoustic guitarist and using a sampler, he weaves blues guitar around his songs, but never at the expense of the songs themselves. As a live performer he is only satisfied when something truly inspired takes place, and this tireless striving for the sublime pays off for audiences that join him for the experience.
