Fidel Bastro was founded in 1992 with the intention to release the new CD/LP of the legendary american Noise-Band Bastro in Germany. But Bastro broke up and the members formed a new project called Gastr' del Sol. So it was their work 'A Serpentine Similar' which became the first Fidel Bastro-release. There were a few foreign bands following on Fidel Bastro (Idiot Flesh, Hash Over) but it was dominated by german bands, especially from Hamburg. 'Noiserock' was always a very important part in the programm of Fidel Bastro (Knochen=Girl, STAU) but not a supposition for a release. This is shown by the Soul-influenced Superpunk or the new CD of the band Sport 'These Rooms Are Made For Waiting' with its intelligent pop in german language. By the way: The island which figures the Fidel Bastro-Logo is not Sylt.
