I've spent too long teaching German teenagers how to fill out the Interests section of their CV, and I now feel like I'm applying for a job and have to make all of my interests sound worthwhile/educational.....so I might struggle to make this section true/interesting! Hmm......obviously going out, drinking, spending time with friends (even if has to be done by phone), travelling (as far as money allows!), observing levels of German-rudeness and lack of service in shops and cafes (all in the name of research, obviously), Kaffee und Kuchen (the best German invention ever - it should be one of the "Germany - Land of Ideas" models that they're putting up around Berlin at the moment - cake's better than the printing press any day, haha!), singing in the international jazz choir, which sounds geeky but is actually really cool and fun (and we have managed to incorporate a visit to the pub after every rehearsal, which can only be a good thing, surely??), gossiping, unintentionally avoiding ever having to play Kings Cup with Niko (though playing it with almost every other American I know!)
Sorry but I have become a huge Sawyer fan - he's fantastic! ..
Lots of stuff - at the moment I really love the Fratellis (very hyped up in Britain, loved and plugged by all at Radio 1 - yet in Germany the girl on the concert ticket desk had never heard of them and I had to spell the name to her!)
Bridget Jones, Back to the Future, Meet the Parents. Mainly comedy or chick flicks.
Lost, Lost, Lost, Lost, Lost, Lost, Lost......did I mention Lost? This in not entirely due to the fact that I do not have TV reception, just a TV connected to a DVD player, and several Lost DVDs... ..
I have finally found a great book that I am really enjoying, after several disappointments - it's called "Never Let Me Go" and is by Kazuo Ishiguro. It's just like being a kid all over again, I can hardly put it down!
I'll get back to you on that one...
