In the fall of 2005, two veterans of the Florida P
unk Scene, guitarist Michael Smyth and drummer GlennÂ
Stewart wereÂ
working together at a debt settlement company ownedÂ
by Stewart. With passions leaning very heavily toward
 theirÂ
music, the two found themselves returning to the off
ice late at night to work on songs that would even
tually becomeÂ
Do It Yourself, their debut album.Â
Â
“We had a full drum kit, a half-stack, a bass ri
g and half-a-dozen guitars lying around Glenn’s off
iceâ€, says Smyth. “WeÂ
just kept the door closed and no one seemed to not
ice.â€Â  Eventually the boys converted some unused w
arehouseÂ
space next to their office into a rehearsal room. T
he space grew and grew until they had actually buil
t a state-of-the-
art recording studio. Â
Â
Buoyed by that accomplishment and with of a ton ofÂ
original songs in their back pocket, they decided i
t was time toÂ
form a band to flesh out all the creative ideas th
ey had brewing.  So they brought in bassist Lindsey
Pittard, trombonistÂ
Aaron Zylman and saxophonist Jay Atheney to completeÂ
the line-up. Blending pop hooks with their distincti
ve fusionÂ
of punk and ska, Victims of Circumstance quickly mad
e a name for themselves among the sea of Central F
loridaÂ
bands, both for their energetic performances and thei
r commitment to the local scene. Â
Â
Victims of Circumstance tapped the talents of Tim â€
œJohnny Vegasâ€Â Burton of the Mighty Mighty Bosstone
s to produceÂ
their debut album Do It Yourself.â€Â When the albumÂ
was released in late 2007, the band locked down ai
rplay on overÂ
150 independent and college radio stations and a hea
lthy amount of media attention.  Â
Â
Hot on the heels of the in-store date, the boys su
pported the release with gigs with the Pietasters, B
ig D and the KidsÂ
Table, and, most importantly, with the Mighty MightyÂ
Bosstones at the revival of their legendary Hometown
Â
Throwdown in Boston.  Road warriors in spirit, theyÂ
continued to play in the Southeast throughout 2008Â
opening forÂ
bands such as Time Again, Whole Wheat Bread and The
 Voodoo Glow Skulls.  Â
Â
Under the watchful eye of Big D and The Kids Table
Bass player Steve Foote in the producer’s seat,Â
the band enteredÂ
the studio again in early 2009 to record the follow
-up.  The resulting album, Roll the Dice, will beÂ
released in AugustÂ
of 2009.  Jam-packed with tight punk, ska and popÂ
tracks with melodic hooks aplenty, this album pushesÂ
the bandÂ
even further, exploring different rock styles and rhy
thms. From the getgo of opening track "The Final Fl
ight of D.B.Â
Cooper" that eases in with instantaneously-infectiousÂ
punk rhythms to the celebratory skank of "This RiotÂ
Used To BeÂ
A Party" to the cheekily-named (but not too far off
) "Number One Hit Single", their second album packsÂ
energeticÂ
melodic ska/punk/pop into fifteen tracks. Â
Â
Roll the Dice was produced by Steve Foote (Big D a
nd the Kids Table) and will be released on AugustÂ
25, 2009 onÂ
Financial Records.Â
