Kobbie the Secret of Surrey, is a funky DJ with excellent credentials. His 13 year DJ career has seen him play in some of the worlds most prestigious clubs, consistently wowing crowds with his technical brilliance, distinctly unique mixing style and energy behind the decks. It is for these reasons that he has continued to play in major clubs. His sets are always fresh and original, combining upfront tracks, promos, club classics and acapellas ensuring Kobbie stands out from the rest. Playing under different pseudonyms has allowed him to play under different music genres; Dj K69, Special K, Kitchen Sink Kobbie, Dj Vagabond, Kobbie-1 to name but a few, albeit Kobbie's main love is Hip Hop n RnB , but you can also expect to hear him play funky house , club classics , disco , latino, highlife, funk, drum n bass and cheesy pop. His love of playing party vibes means he is constantly being requested to do big private parties.
It all started at Kingston University when a couple of friend's Vip & Jay who were at the time running a few promo nights , mainly Slik Cut at Ministry of Sound asked him to help promote and learn the tricks of the dj trade.Within weeks he had his own night - Phriday Phunque playing a mish mash of dance music at the University Bar and also warming up for the likes of Judge Jules, Carl Cox, Fabio, Da Ill Kidz et al. His appetite of djing was fully born and this culminated in a residency at a few bars in Kingston and monthly events in London.
A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then...having djed abroad from as far west as New York to as far east as Kos and in over 200 bars and clubs, and being part of a few major nights - Bling, Vibe,Popstars , I love Vodka etc, he is now part of the NEW WAVE MUSIC MOVEMENT (www.newwavemusic.co.uk) and is also a member of DJ Agency Eminence Leisure {www.eminenceleisure.co.uk} and the Dollar Jockeys Sound.
Whether a 2 hour set or one of Kobbie's legendary 5 hour sets his enthusiasm for what he does never dips. He pushes his sets so far beyond a simple "RnB, Hip-Hop" set, with his additions and sprinklings of Bashment, Ragga, Funk and Soul, and quite frankly, by his willingness and enthusiasm to add whatever he feels will make the crowd move and/or sing-a-long. Often seen dancing and singing behind the decks you'd be forgiven for thinking he's a paying customer who gate-crashed the DJ booth . HE LOVES IT !
