About Me

Jean Arthur is perfect...

Edit to add: Look people, I am NOT interested in finding "Mr. Right" though MySpace. I don't care if you live near me or we have similar interests. Not interested! Period! So leave me alone! This is getting ridiculous.

ehem. Anyways...

I own my own business at The Graceful Lady .
I love music...good music. Most radio sucks, except for NPR. This American Life , World Cafe , Sound Opinions and about every other show on that station rocks. No seriously. Take a listen, might change your life.
Dancing is fun.
Civil War reenactors creep me out (as do farbs).
The d.i.y. movement is totally rad.
I wish more people would knit.
Girls who play banjos rock my socks off.
Brewed Awakenings makes the most amazing coffee (it's true).
Great music makes me soar. Poor music makes me gag.
I'm not really a snob, contrary to popular belief.
I love people who are real.
Honesty is attractive.
I do not feel the need to shove my beliefs down anyone's throat.
I think change is healthy.
Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.-Oscar Wilde

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

These people:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.-Mark Twain

"Simple, sincere people seldom speak much of their piety. It shows itself in acts rather than in words, and has more influence than homilies or protestations." -Louisa May Alcott

"To endure is greater than to dare; to tire out hostile fortune; to be daunted by no difficulty; to keep heart when all have lost it—who can say this is not greatness?" -William Makepeace Thackeray

"I cannot express it: but surely you and everybody have a notion that there is, or should be, an existence of yours beyond you." -Emily Bronte

"All of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon, instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today." -Dale Carnegie

"The best advice my grandpa gave me, before he died. "I keep my relationship going because I give one hundred percent. And she [my grandma] gives a hundred percent too."" -Elizabeth S. :)

"Life is my college. May I graduate well, and earn some honors!" -Louisa May Alcott

"I would always hesitate to recommend as a life's companion a young lady with quite such a vivid shade of red hair. Red hair, sir, in my opinion, is dangerous." -P.G. Wodehouse

"All noise is waste. So cultivate quietness in your speech, in your thoughts, in your emotions. Speak habitually low. Wait for attention and then your low words will be charged with dynamite."--Elbert Hubbard

"It's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word."-Andrew Jackson

"Some people like what you do, some people hate what you do, but most people simply don't give a damn."-Charles Bukowski.

"The only place outside Heaven where you can be -perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell."--C. S. Lewis

"If you want to be happy, be." - Leo Tolstoy

"the simple joy of taking an idea into one's own hands and giving it proper form, that's exciting." george nelson

"Good conversation is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after."-Anne Morrow Lindberg

"Writing is hard work and bad for the health."-E. B. White

"The blues to me is like, being very sad, very sick, going to church, being very happy. There's two kinds of blues, there's happy blues and there's sad blues. I don't think I ever sang the same way twice. I don't think I ever sing the same tempo. One nights a little bit slower, the next night a little bit brighter. It's just according to how I feel. I don't know, the blues are sort of a mixed up thing. You have to feel it. Anything I do sing is apart of my life." --Billie Holiday

"Reality is easy. It’s deception that’s the hard work."

My sister gave me Lauryn Hill's album "Unplugged 2.0" yesterday and I'm just now listening to it. The album is a live recording on stage and it's gotta be one of the most convicting and honest albums ...
