Filmmaker/actor, Giovanni Capitello was born in Brooklyn, New York in August 1979 and grew up part of his life in Patchogue, Long Island. During his high school years, he began acting in local plays. He later studied at The School for Film and Television in New York City where he developed the Meisner technique. After leaving acting school he appeared in many independent films and was used in major motion pictures, Keeping The Faith (2000) and 15 Minutes (2001). Giovanni later moved on to filmmaking where he went to college for digital filmmaking and multimedia. During his tenure at college, Giovanni built a foundation and networks that helped his talents go to the next level. He also directed and acted in two short films, Manic (2004) and Perturb (2005), that proved his originality and directing skills. He took his films to another level with special effects and faced paced editing that made him stand out as one of the best of his class. Shortly after graduation Giovanni started his own production company, Magic Mind Films. Giovanni and his new company got work on many projects, including working side by side with accomplished Italian director Carlo Lavagna on a documentary based on the birth of the hip-hop and graffiti culture, that aired on a major television network in Europe (Sky TV, 2005). Giovanni also went on to be the director of a documentary produced by rapper Jadakiss in his hometown of Yonkers, New York, to promote a charity basketball event(Midnight Basketball, 2005). During the summer of 2005 Giovanni got work in some of New York’s hottest nightclubs, (Club Crobar, CPI, and Neptunes), where he worked as a cameraman filming world famous DJs such as DJ Jonathan Peters, DJ Tiesto, DJ Michael Jaden and DJ Serge Devant. Giovanni’s talents in filmmaking are well rounded starting as an actor then moving on to directing, but his skills and knowledge don’t stop there as he also gets hired by other directors or companies to be an editor, special effects artist, gaffer and/or grip. As a director, Giovanni’s recent works include: Playlist(2006), a film about the up and coming musicians in New York City that come from different backgrounds and culture. Last One(2006), a short film about a heavy smoking musician in his struggles always claiming his "last one", referring to his cigarettes. And currently with a new pilot, Girls Night Out(2007), created and hosted by Samantha Cole. Currently, Giovanni in the works of his first feature film to be projected 2008.
