CultchaSound is a Washington, DC based reggae
sound system comprised of brothers, DJ Cultcha
and TG.
DJ Cultcha has been involved in reggae music for over 15 years as a top Washington, DC selector. His mix tapes/cd's are on rotation throughout the US, Jamaica, Africa and Europe. Through a dedication to uniquely blend old and new school tunes and
riddims, a growing collection of dubs, and juggling abilities, Cultcha has earned his stripes as a skilled selector.
Cultcha's first experience with Reggae was listening to his brother's mixed tapes of sound
systems from Jamaica. Cultcha's unique juggling style commenced at the age of 12 when he began scratching up his first set of vinyls on the family record player. After graduating from the family's system, he moved on to his first set of Technics
and began compiling countless 45's.
Through the years, Cultcha has blazed a trail of fire. His resume includes producing and making guest appearances on a slew of radio shows, holding numerous residencies in some of the top lounges and clubs in DC, performing at grass roots to high society fundraisers, as well as promotional events across the east coast. Keeping true to his DC roots, Cultcha also continues to be a draw at late night bashments
across the city.
DJ Cultcha has also gained a loyal following through his mixed CD releases. These mixed CDs have been circulated throughout the world and continue to be requested regardless of release date.
In recent times, DJ Cultcha teamed up with his brother TG to deliver what we now know as Cultchasound. TG and Cultcha's partnership was initiated to build out a timeless dub library, deliver conscious vibes to the massive, create an even stronger following, and continue to expand the reach of the sound.

During a dub session early in the sound’s history, legendary DJ Sizzla Kalonji dubbed CultchaSound the “Conscious sound, Righteous sound†due to its emphasis ..ing and delivering conscious and righteous vibes to the people. Showcasing the best reggae has to offer, this tag stuck, and so too has CultchaSound’s music over
the years.
