About Me

Myspace LayoutsStreaming live video by Ustreamdj Chris Williams The Story So FarChris Williams’s obsession with music began in his teens whilst listening to early disco and 80’s soul music. His early influences include the likes of Shalamar, Chaka Khan and Loose ends. In the late 80’s, Chris turned his hand to Dj’ing. He soon began his Dj’ing career by taking his newfound skills outside his bedroom and into local house parties and bars. As the house scene erupted, Chris satisfied his addiction to music by frequenting early Acid house parties such as The Dungeons, Biology, Genesis Sunrise and then later Garage City, Release the Pressure and Feel Real. He soon identified his favourite DJ’s, which include the legendary Bobby & Steve, Chrissy T, Rupert, Benji Candelario,Rob Acteson,Linden C Tony Humphries and Ricky Morrison, some of which have now become his mentors. In 1996 Chris came across a competition in DJ Magazine to play ‘The DJ Lab’, at his favourite night, Garage City @ Bar Rumba. Steve Zoo contacted him to inform him that he had been chosen from around 500 applicants to take part in the final. His dream was beginning to come true. What followed, after sheer persistence, was the opportunities to prove his talent by playing the DJ Lab over the next 12 months. This eventually lead to the Zoo’s boys asking Chris to play the main floor, playing alongside some of the biggest names in the industry. Could things get any better? By 2000, Chris had already bagged himself a residency at Freedom at Bagleys but more importantly he was also given a permanent residency at Garage City – his dream had finally come true. The residency was announced on Bobby and Steve’s famous radio show ‘The Zoo Experience’ on Kiss FM when Chris played a half-hour set and was interviewed by the twins. An experience Chris describes as the most nerve racking of all time and one he will never forget. Since then Chris Williams has come a long way and enjoyed spinning his tunes at various nights up and down the Country including Poo Na Na (Cambridge, Sheffield, Harrogate and Lincoln), the Legendary Hardtimes (Huddersfield), Rulin @ Ministry of Sound (London), Independence @ Hanover Grand (London). He has also plays internationally in Amsterdam, Ibiza, Ayia Napa, Tenerife, Estonia and Miami and more recently Club X11 in Moscow Russia Additionally Chris has also had his own radio show, ‘The People’s Choice’, both on the Internet radio station cnsoholive.com and London based Touch FM. Today, still part of the Zoo Family, Chris enjoys playing at monthly ‘Zoo’ events, including Bobby & Steve and Friends @ Herbal, Garage City @ The Whitehouse. This year, Chris has launched his own monthly club night, SoulFusion, where he continues to share his growing collection of disco and house music. www.zoogroovestereo.comwww.zoogroovestereo.comClassic House Mix 88-90 Mixed by dj Chris Williams
