Lubotnik is the name Björn and Johann use when they combine their creative talents in order to make music. They started creating music as teenagers, addicted to the sounds of Daft Punk and Kruder & Dorfmeister. They soon found out that the best results were achieved when they were not trying to emulate other acts, so they started exploring the realm of electronic music on their own terms. Initially and without any experience, Björn and Johann started to source and manipulate anything they could find which they thought could generate some noise: Their instruments were old cassette tape decks, CD-players, guitars and bass. They still work using that explorative approach today, although their tools are more sophisticated and they now use hardware-synthesizers and a bunch of software. Collectively, they have a huge library of sound samples. Lubotnik's set up has evolved and it's all become more professional now, but their aim is still to play around and experiment to find new sounds. It's about using computers as a tool, but not being bound by the limitations computers offer. To put it in their own words: It's just what we like!
