Twenty three-year-old singer/rapper/songwriter/producer/actress L. Jae began her musical quest the age of four. Under the influence of her father, also a singer/songwriter, L. Jae studied music theory, piano, and guitar. L. Jae is sure to captivate your heart from the first note. She is currently in the studio completing her first Hip-Hop/R&B CD.
L. Jae was born Jaime Lynn Barney in Newark, NJ and was raised in Denver, CO. She wrote her first song at the age of eleven entitled If I Could (Give You My Love Tonight). Although that song got her a whooping, it further boosted her interest in song writing. If her song could evoke that much emotion in her mother, she could definitely touch others. After a painful divorce between her parents, Jaime began to shuffle back and forth between her father in New Jersey and her mother in Colorado. The instability of her family life, suffering mental and physical abuse, dealing with negative peer relationships, and a tragic shooting of her brother led Jaime to a period of confusion and crisis which, in turn, led her in search of herself. This turning point changed Jaime to L. Jae.
L. Jae was determined to make a better life for herself and her family. She met and began working with B. Darius and DJ Leon, producers/songwriters/ and owners of SMB studios who have worked with The Fugees, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Akon, and a host of other artists. Through this collaboration, L. Jae began learning more about the artistry than just singing. While writing the songs for her CD, she studied vocal coaching and audio engineering.
The songs written for her debut album have all been inspired by events in her life: finding love, losing it, self-confidence, and even no-carb dieting. This past year has afforded opportunities for L.Jae to gain exposure through performances at Madison Square Gardens and the BET Sound Stage in association with New York's Power 105.1 radio station. She is currently preparing sets in anticipation of touring as an opening act for a major recording artist.
Although music keeps her schedule pretty full, L.Jae continues to make time for community service projects. L. Jae is undeniably a super star in the making. Without a doubt, she will dazzle you with the sexy, sizzling charisma that surrounds her.
