Sacrum of Westfield Massachusetts was formed in 1993 by Paul Shipman (14) Drums, Joe Ala (15) Guitar, Jamie Emerson (16) Guitar, and Chris Ala (15) Vocals and Bass.
Sacrum was influenced by bands like Slayer, Sepultura, Metallica, Pantera, Death, Suffocation, and Deicide.
Their style takes metal to a new plateau. Fusing old school thrash/speed metal with the brutality and technicality of death metal. Then injecting the low end devastation of the seven string guitars. Thus creating a unique aggresive sound.
In 1994 Sacrum recorded their first demo - Sleeping in Blood, by Karl Ourand of Bloodbath. In late 1996 Jamie Emerson was replaced by current guitarist Joe Baer.
In 1998 Sacrum recorded Mass Genocide at Zing Studios by Adam D. of Killswitch Engaged and Zing owner Jim Fogarty. Sacrum has played a number of shows including The March Metal Meltdown in New Jersey and The New England Metal Fest in Worchester Mass
Sacrum recorded Win By Attrition in 2002 at Zing Studio's by Karl Ourand and Jim Fogerty. The album caught the ear of Lifeless Records manager Matt Bachand of Shadows Fall. Who quickly added them to his label. Sacrum toured in 03 and 04 for the album and is currently working on new material for the next full length album.
