Freddy DeBoe was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, where he developed a talent and musical spirit in the inner-city creative arts program at Elm Creative Arts School and Wisconsin Conservatory of Music from teachers and mentors Berkeley Fudge, Anthony Alston, and his bigger brother, Berklee Alumni Jack DeBoe.
Freddy has had the privilege to study at Berklee College of Music under the leadership of teachers such as Walter Beasley, George Garzone, Dino Govoni, Daryl Lowery, Frank Tiberi and Rick DiMuzio, and has also had the opportunity to play with such artists as Fred Wesley of the James Brown Horns, George Porter of the Meters, Raheem DeVaughn, the Last Poets, Donte Winslow, Kenwood Dennard, and Danny Morris to name a few.
Since the Fall of 2008, Freddy has recently been working with upcoming artist group "Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed & the True Loves" in tours around the US, Europe, Australia and Japan. Along the way he has had the opportunity of meeting Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Duffy, Solange Knowles, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Seal, Tom Jones, Robert Randolph, Booker T & the MGs, Lily Allen, the Future Kuts, Fat Freddy's Drop, the Kinks, Dr. Dog, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops, as well as live film appearances on BBC's Later with Jools Holland and Paris' Channel Plus. Freddy has also contributed his baritone sax sound on Eli's newest studio release, "Come and Get It," releasing in the Spring of 2010.
In the future, Freddy hopes to continue his studies, as well as write and produce more original material in a plethora of styles, and join the next generation of revolutionary artists.
