About Me
MAXLIDER , (pronounced: max'slid'er) founded by Erik and Kris Maxlider, is a high energy, no holds barred, hard rock band based in Bloomington, Illinois. Ive seen some great bands in our club like, Mudvayne, V-Shaped Mind, The Pimps, and Taxi War Dance, but I've never seen anyone come on stage with as much energy and raw appeal as these guys, says Shane Aldrich of Paulies Bar (formerly Lizards Lounge). "By the end of the show, MAXLIDER has the crowd begging for more."
Releasing their debut album, Knuckle Sandwich on 4/26/03, (5000 copies sold), and playing numerous shows to promote it, MAXLIDER's energy driven show and infectious songs have earned them the reputation as one of Illinois most entertaining, hard working and hard rocking bands.
"I know for a fact that this band is one of the hardest working bands that Emergenza has ever come across," says Arno Lombard of Emergenza International. (Organizers of the Emergenza World Wide Battle of the Bands.) On 11/23/04, MAXLIDER released their second album, Inferno, and the high demand for this CD resulted in over 4000 copies in circulation in just
one month! Merchandise sales are just as impressive. The band sold more than 1500 t-shirts in 2004.
Songs from both albums have been in rotation on various rock stations around Illinois and have earned MAXLIDER the opportunity to be these station's favorite choice to perform at large events they organize and promote. However, it's MAXLIDER's impressive live performances that keep tons of loyal fans coming back for every show. "Erik Maxlider OWNS the stage," says DJ, Chris Payne of Chicago's Q101 Radio Station. MAXLIDER fan, Kelly Gaffney adds, "I go to a lot of concerts and MAXLIDER is more fun to watch than 99% of the bands on the major tours right now. One day you'll see them on one of those tours."
In a short period of time, MAXLIDER has won numerous Battle of the Bands contests. Most notably, the group made a big noise in the 2004 Emergenza World Wide Battle of the Bands. Advancing through three rounds of competition, MAXLIDER competed at the Chicago Regional Finals at the legendary Metro Theater. At the show, they placed 5th overall (out of 250+ bands). Adding to their impressive resume, MAXLIDER became the first band in the U.S. to repeat this accomplishment and finished even higher at the United States Finals of Emergenza 2005 where they placed 4th overall out of 650 groups! They also won the judges award for "Best Sound & Visual Performance".
The most amazing thing about MAXLIDER is their fans. Over 350 people traveled 2 hours to cheer them on at the 2004 Emergenza Chicago Regional Finals. You can't go anywhere in Central Illinois without seeing a fan wearing a MAXLIDER t-shirt, sticker or hat. "Many of their fans look as if they were bred from birth," says an Emergenza talent scout, "It's amazing to see the connection that this band has with their legions of fans." "If you want to rock your ass off and have fun doing it, come and see a MAXLIDER show," says Derek Moody, (prime time DJ at IROCK 96.7FM in Normal, IL). "These guys are very aggressive, very exciting and very good!"
